Breast Enlargement and Lift  (Augmentation Mastopexy) surgery is a procedure that adds fat and volume to the the breasts making them larger, but also more pert. Breast lift surgery can also reduce the size of your areolas and help to restore sagging breasts to give them a more youthful
appearance. These are more commonly encountered nowadays in Massive Weight Loss patients, who lost weight and ended up with smaller and more sagging breasts.

Am I a good candidate

for the surgery?

Your visit with Dr. Wilson will determine if you are a good candidate for Breast Enlargement and Lift  (Augmentation Mastopexy). If you are in good physical and mental health, have no breast disease and have reasonable expectations, you may be an appropriate candidate. You may be required to have a mammogram before your surgery.

What should I expect from my consultation?

During the consultation, you will be asked about your desired breast size and anything else related to the appearance of your breasts that you feel is important. Dr. Wilson will examine your breasts and will consider such factors as the size and shape, the quality of your skin and the placement of your nipples and areolas. Measurements will be taken which are necessary for planning of the surgery. He will explain which surgical techniques are most appropriate for you, based on the condition of your breasts and skin tone.

You should come to the consultation prepared to discuss your medical history. This will include information about any medical conditions, drug allergies, medical treatments you have received, previous surgeries including breast biopsies, and medications that you currently take. You will be asked whether you have a family history of breast cancer and about results of any mammograms. It is important for you to provide complete information.

How is the surgery performed?

Techniques for  Breast Enlargement and Lift  (Augmentation Mastopexy) vary but the most common procedure involves an ellipse-shaped incision that circles the areola, extends downward to the natural curve of the crease beneath the breast. The skin from both sides of the breast is brought down and around the areola, shaping the new contour of the breast.

Dr. Wilson performs this technique which ends up with the least possible scarring: only a vertical scar and eliminates the troublesome transverse scar resulting from older techniques. You may need to wear a special bra for 3-4 weeks after the surgery. 

Enlargement of the Breast is achieved by Fat Injection or Silicone Implants. The choice of the method and pros and cons of each will be described in detail by Dr Wilson.

 Risks of Breast Enlargement and Lift  (Augmentation Mastopexy)

Fortunately, significant complications from Breast Enlargement and Lift  (Augmentation Mastopexy) are infrequent.

Following Breast Enlargement and Lift  (Augmentation Mastopexy), sometimes the breasts may not be perfectly symmetrical or the nipple height may vary slightly. If desired, minor adjustments can be made at a later time. Permanent loss of sensation in the nipples or breasts may occur rarely. Revisionary surgery is sometimes helpful in certain instances where incisions may have healed poorly.



Breast Enlargement and Lift  (Augmentation Mastopexy) with Removal of Implants: This 49 year old patient had 23 year old breast implants causing capsular contracture, inequality of both sides, and sagging of the breast. Implants were removed and vertical scar breast lift was done, with concommittant fat injection a breast to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing symmetric appearance.



Breast Enlargement and Lift  (Augmentation Mastopexy): This 34 year old patient desired a breast enlargement and lift to achieve a more symmetric and aesthetically pleasing appearance after previous augmentation with 280 ccs implants. Areolar reduction was also performed. Vertical scar lift and 450 ccs implants were used to achieve a naturally looking pert breast appearance, and symmetry was restored.

Breast Enlargement and Lift  (Augmentation Mastopexy): This 32year old patient desired a breast enlargement and lift to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing appearance after Massive Weight Loss. Areolar reduction was also performed. Vertical scar lift and 500 ccs implants were used to achieve a naturally looking pert breast appearance.

Breast Enlargement and Lift  (Augmentation Mastopexy): After gastric bypass surgery, this 28 year old patient ended up with sagging flabby ptosed breasts that looke really ugly. Prof Wilson lifted the breasts using a short scar mastopexy, and inserted 380 ccs silicone breast implants to enlarge the sieze. The paient was very pleased with the new size and harmonious shape of her breasts.

Breast Enlargement and Lift  (Augmentation Mastopexy): This 26 year old patient desired a breast enlargement and lift to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. She had a Tubular Breast deformity.  Vertical scar lift and 420 ccs implants were used to achieve a naturally looking pert breast appearance.
